"Binoche as Sand brings to the role her pale,
dark beauty and characteristic warmth."
Mick LaSalle – San Francisco Chronicle
"It's technically sumptuous
but also almost wildly alive."
Michael Wilmington – Chicago Tribune
"An intimate contemplation
of two marvellously messy lives."
Andrew Sarris – New York Observer
I hope this film will make people go back to the source and read Sand.
I think you can really feel her through her writing. Sand was truly a generous woman."

Les Enfants du Siècle (Children of the Century) features Juliette Binoche in the role of the legendary French novelist George Sand in an ambitious romance directed by Oscar nominee Diane Kurys.
The true story begins just as George Sand quits her marital home for Paris with her two young children in toe and embarks on a literary career. Meanwhile the young poet and dandy Alfred de Musset (Benoit Magimel) is busy making a name for himself as a womaniser and as a talented poet and critic.
Sand and Musset first meet at a literary dinner and quickly recognise in each other a like minded love of literature. At first their relationship remains platonic, but soon they embark on a turbulent affair despite the scandalous fact that he is 5 years her junior and she is a married woman.
Their desire to find inspiration leads them to embark on a hazardous journey to Venice, where his opium abuse and violence and her sickness and subsequent affair with a handsome young doctor threatens to destroy them both.
